Here's a question for you guys;
I have a spark plug firing problem.
All plugs spark, the engine runs, but, I have to pull the plug wire on 1 plug (#3) almost all the way off, until it stops popping/sparking, then slowly push the wire close to the contact until it just starts popping and I get spark to the plug.
If I push the plug wire all the way on, or even part way on, the plug loses spark........ This happens at the cap, and also at the plug, both sides of the wire same situation......... only 1 plug does this.
New cap, new wires new plugs etc.
Could this be a BAD GROUND from engine to the tranny?
Any other ideas..
This one is really got me.
Picked up the car, got it running good, did the body work and paint and now this motor problem....

bad spark to 1 plug
First, you have to give all engine specs( carb? injection? etc.)

This is only a 1.7 with dual dell 36's..... it has an 09 dizzy, new blue coil.....all stock as far as I know.
valves are all set properly, and all the intakes bolts are snugged up tight... new gaskets on the carbs and manifolds, both ends of the manifolds......
timing is set at 3,500 at about 30 degrees..... I think, can't remember if i set the timing at idle for the 1.7 as compared to 3,500 for my other 2.0.
hmmmmm.... running Bosch W7DTC 3 prong ground plugs...
let me add, this motor came with the car.... i put the carbs on and got it running, had it running about 50 miles of good running before I started the paint job........
