parting out 914

Post by BajaPorsche »

Hi guys, I usually spend most of my time on the Type 4rum (I think it's called)... here's my situation

I'm building another 914 bajabug. I just bought the first 914 for xtra parts, and the next one is coming in a few weeks......

My question is, are the metal door jams salvagable? I'm chop sawing the thing up now. I've already stripped all the parts...... but I'm wondering what, if any, body parts are good to save....... I have a good chop saw so it doesn't heat up and warp the metal like a cutting torch does...

thanks

I use a sawsall with Lenox metal blades as it cut like butter.

Clean front trunk floor as good parts to replace the cut out for AC. Cut it big!

Sail panels down to the lock area

rear clips (trunk floor to tail lite section)

I am in SoCal as well. I know I have 2 or 3 fuel FI pumps in my stash.

Come on over and see what ya need. I am in the Newport Beach area.

If I don't have what you need. My 914 friends are close and will have ANYTHING you can think of.

call me at 714. 944-082one anytime after 5:00 PM till midnight.

No blocked calls please.

And I can help you on how and where to cut up a teener. Much to my chagrin. I have cut up many a rust bucket.

Cheers,

Clayton

Exterior mirrors
Sun visors
Door locks (outers)
Door panels
Rear padding (behind the seat)

Rear susp and engine mount consoles, if any good.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
