Im considering purchasing a fan switch kit and installing that. The ones I see are 25 bucks. Can anyone else tell me how they accommodated the radiator thermo, fan, relay issue other than a donor vanagon?

Ive got an 84 radiator and fan and shroud. Hows should I set this up?

84 radiator from what? Are you running the stock ECU ?

Then you won't need the fan switch kit if you're running the stk ECU.

My answer probably should have been subaru stock since we have two possible sock options.
The suby ecu will activate the vanagon fan if wired correctly?

Not that it matters but just curious......what car is this conversion going into?
And yes you can just use the stk Subaru ECU and wire it up just like the wiring diagram for that year donor car/ECU and it should work just fine. Does the ECU just have one fan to control or two?

Re: Air-cooled to EJ22 radiator fan setup
Should have been more specific from the get go.
Im installing an EJ22 into my aircooled 1981 Westfalia Vanagon.
Im using the suby ecu to manage the system.
Having never played with a watercooled vehicle in the past Im pretty stumped on how this all works.
The suby ECU will control the fan (one fan)? Its getting the coolant temp off the engine someplace?
On another note:
Im plumbing the cooling system as we type. Im planning to T off my to and from radiator lines and run the secondary hoses to the pressure tank in my engine bay. Im going to loop my heater hoses until later. I also plan to run a dedicated line to the T-sheils temo unit. I intend to T off the hot side of those secondary hoses (to expansion tank) to serve the T-Sheils unt. Does this all sound kosher?
PS my manifold is non-reversed.

Do you have the motor and wiring schematic? If so you should be able to find it. Also where are you planing to put the rad ? If you run the T-sheils water plumbing you should be all good. (tried ,tested and true)AZ Landshaper wrote: Its getting the coolant temp off the engine someplace?
