#1 What are you folks with a swing axle using for VSS for a Suby comversion? Using the electronic speedo cable converters or what.
#2 EJ22 - do I need an engine mount as some links suggest or am I fine with the stock VW transaxle mounts....And if OK with VW, should I use urethane instead of stock rubber? Not getting stupid with the car, but I sure as hell am not building it to go slow.

What brakes do you have on the car?

I think you are going to need a Truss/Kaffer Bar as a minimum to protect the engine/transaxle mounts.

Re: 2 questions - VSS for swing axle car and I engine mount
Was already pondering a truss bar. For $150-200 I think it may be cheap insurance so I dont break things. And I dont know yet what I am doing with the car. If its as quick as I think it may be, I may make a couple passes down the strip just to see what it does. But main focus is blasting through the twisties.
As far as brakes go, the actual build is still a couple months out. Just getting my ducks in a row. Would like to use disc up front, but it depends on if I can make everything work the way I want with the wheel/tire and ride height set up I am planning on using. But about 90% sure about disc.

You don't need engine mounts, just brace the forks to cope with extra weight.
Avoid the red urethane mounts, they transfer a lot of noise and vibration.
If you don't want to go the cable mounted vss an option if you go disc brake is mount a hall effect sensor in the front hub and read the wheel bolts

Duuuhhhh - now I see why I was asked about what kind of brakes.....Good stuff - Thanks! And as far as mounts go, I normally shy away from urethanes. but didnt know if it was recommended because of the swap. Thanks again.
