Nothing like sharpening the electrode just to get it stuck 2 seconds into a weld. Can't tell you how many times i did it but that is the biggest motivator to get better at this.

Trying to get used to it and steady my hand. when i can i use the cup but not always able to.
I'm currently running a trigger, seems easier than the foot pedal to me while standing.
Also switched to a 1/16" electrode and filler and that helped tremendously with the thinner pieces.
Welp, i was going to try to use at least a little of the factory manifold but that didn't give me enough clearance so i took it down to the flange.
Quickly learned that the most tedious part would be cleaning up the edges
had a little trouble welding the thick ass flange to a thin mild pipe but got the hang of it... ish
A friend was helping who is equally as new/bad with a tig so we definitely overdid some of the welds to make sure they fully penetrated and filled any gaps so some parts are super ugly but i'm hoping it'll get better each time.
