Here's a plan for the engine you remove from the bug...if you hadn't already sold it.

Hahaha. Yeah, ive considered it. Ive also considered making a trike but all my resources are going into the bug right now so anything i do will have to wait till the bug is finished.

I understand. I saw that bike at a car show yesterday and had to get a picture of it. It was like someone took a picture out of my head and built it...before I ever thought of it.

That's correct. I talked to the owner and he'd found it in someone's back yard with weeds growing around it. The VW engine is bolted to an adapter plate that looks like a VW transaxle bell housing adapted to the stock BMW transmission.

So ive decided to start with the better body/pan and go with the 69 i picked up the other day. Plus it has IRS.

Still waiting on the adapter plate to get finished and sent. I did some calculations and with stock tire size and vw transmission with 3.88 R+P in 4th gear that ill have 122 mph top speed with busa in 6th

So i am about to order disk brake kits for the bug with blank rotors and have them drilled to a more standard pattern like 4x100mm. I REALLY like these rims and might get them.

It'll be interesting to see what you come up with on the VW-to-Busa adaptor. I've been measuring up the requirements to mate a GSXR engine to a VW Autostick trans - some additional mounts would need to be made, but it's small & light once the bellhousing is removed, and has 3 forward gears & reverse.

Got my parts in. Also scored a free IRS transaxle that was being changed out of a rail buggy because it kept popping out of 4th gear, so im going to use that to mock everything up, take measurements and make sure i dont have to modify the firewall for fitment, then its going to all go together and start the process of plumbing everything.
