Finished the radiator position. It has enough room for a puller fan along on the back and a condenser in the front. The lower tray can also be extended further down into the wind stream if needed. The tray is also pretty sturdy and reinforces the wheel well cutout area. Thanks to 55SuperBeetle for the radiator recommendation it's a perfect fit. I will work on encasing it later to ensure all the air that will come in the scoop goes through the radiator.

Since I have the radiator mount figured out I am finishing the not-so-fun stuff of removing and replacing sheet metal. The front sections of the heater channels were replaced and I am working on the back sections now. Haven't posted a lot of the pictures because what I am doing now isn't conversion related. I have been busy though! M-F I put in a few hours every day before I go to work. I may have a slow down period because we may be moving, but it has a 5 car garage!.
This is what I have done lately
Rust through right rear heater channel
Amount removed
Rust B Gone!
Fender nut needs replacement
Fender nut replaced
Quarter panel section replaced
Back Scetion of heater channel formed
Side channel replaced
Inner Channel formed and replaced
Positioning the bottom plate from Wolf Parts for plug welding

This is amazing, I can't wait to see more progress on this thing. I'm going to be doing something very similar so this is a priceless reference. Thanks!

Thank you. I should be back at it in the summer and I am itching to get my hands on my car again. Moving threw all my organization out the window. Adding an extension to the workshop, then I will be ready for business!

Wow...almost two years has gone by. Okay a bit has happened in the two years, but I am back. Added a few more Subarus to the mix which has kept me busy because all but one are modded Stage 2+, and I finally finished my project garage and back shop where I can build some cars!. Realized that I really enjoy the metal fabrication of this build and had an idea. I always wanted a convertible karmann ghia, like the way AWD cars hook and never built a Turbo flat six before. So yeah, I switched gears. Since the metal work on the bug is basically finished I have now started the Ghia. I will be moving towards completion on the 56 VDubaru, but the Ghia will be taking most of my time.....I know, I know...Just finish one. I have been busy though.
We added this extension for the engine build workbench
Compressor Cabinet
Fabbed up a support, so the compressor support frame rides on rubber isolators. The fan is wired to turn on and shut off as the compressor does.
Ghia is already on the spit. Due to her potential to kill "Muscle Cars" I am calling her"The Huntress"....let's do this!

Welcome back hard charger! Thanks for the moto!
Once I got my shop up and 90% complete, I have kept busy with my other project the AWD Vert Ghia. When the Ghia gets to the same stage as the Bug I'll do them concurrently. This weekend hoping to brace and box in the transmission center diff / nose cone area.
