Well, as an update........

As of right now the car is just a rolling shell, no motor or tranny.

Why:

Only time I ever had it to the track was BOR 65 last may, were the carnage occurred. What I learned about the setup that day........The tranny gearing wasn't playing nice with such a high rpm powerband motor. Now don't get me wrong about this, the car ran great and was very fast.......but just could not get out of the hole. Because of the high gearing and high powerband I started getting more aggressive on the starts.....so that I could leave under power, causing the destruction.

Car had a best that day of 11.6 at 123mph.

Here is the video from that day.....
To give you an idea of how tall the tranny was geared............ I never even got out of 3rd gear (3rd maxes out at just about 130mph, 4th would have been 190mph)

I was going to say that you should hang that beautiful powdercoated transmission case on the wall...

But if you did that with all the crap you break, you'd have to buy a second house. Because the first one would be filled floor to ceiling with broken Bug parts.

Glad it's coming back together already. Post pics of the progress when you get a chance.

I can do that :D

So what I am doing is converting to a Bus Box 002 5-rib, with a LanD billet conversion intermediate housing.

Re-using all the Weddle gears that were in the T1 box, but also using the stock Bus 4.86 R/P.

Sold my Quaife and got a 091 Peloquin diff.

So the intermediate housing is fully assembled, just need to adjust the shift rods. And I need to clearance the inside of the Bus case a little more to clear the 1/2 shift fork.

Aside from the tranny itself I am also going to convert to a Hydraulic clutch w/ clutch management to help keep the gears in 1 piece.

As for the motor, i am adding a set of Supertech valve springs and titanium retainers, and am also going to change the fuel pump out for twin Bosch 044 pumps and retune on E85. On E85 the motor should safely produce 450-500whp, which will be damn near maxing out the 1000cc fuel injectors. Obviously 500whp on a "stock" 2.0 engine is pushing the limitations of what it can handle, but this is something that has been done many times already.

You all get the idea....

I was watchin as you snapped ur case in half, and saw the trail of tranny fluid as you came to a rolling top. I was feeling for you, but seems you solved the problem with a fat 002, what kind of gearing is going in it now? Hopefully no longer 130mph in third.

Sweet build dude, I was thinking about a boosted k20z3 in my notch but I just don't have heart to cut it up to squeeze a radiator in it. My civic (06 fg2) made over 370 whp with a log mani/gt28/ethanol, those motors are friggin awesome.

I am running German T2 inner and outer joints. Never had a problem with them. Using stock Thing output flanges and 924 stubs on stock T1 axles. Gonna have to change axles now obviously but everything else will be the same.

Sorry, I already have the gear carrier together. But it is using the late model stamped steel reverse arm with the little pin and fine splined slider with the outer diameter turned down per Weddle.

The ratios are 3.33,1.93,1.26,.89 w/ 4.86 R/P.

I had to pull the tranny back apart before putting it back in the car so I took a picture of reverse gear for you.
