There are these different Types. Looks like 1 to 4? How does it work?

Type 1 = beetle
Type 2 = bus
Type 3 = Fastback
Type 4 = 411/412

Txs. But what would the diff be between a Fastback and a 411? Here by us I can vaguely
remember the 411 (now just about non- existent.)

Type 3 = Fastback, squareback, notchback made between about 1964 and 1972 (sorry about the "about", I'm a newbe)

I see someone liked my suggestion about the general forum, or they wanted me out of thier's.....hmmmm....
Y3K, Type 1 also includes Ghias & Things
The 411 & 412 were made in fastback and wagon and like was mentioned before the Type 3's had 3 different body styles (4 if you count the Razor Ghia that was technically a Type 3)

if we're gonna get picky about it, my brother just happens to own a 1973 squareback... but i *think* that was the last year for the T3.

Hmmmmm, guess the '61s were mis-yeared? and the 1st were in very late 60 as '61s. I even have the '61 edition workshop manual. No big deal, I get the others "ones" confused.
