Fat Mat in place, and the engine just needs muffler installed. I'm tired! :)

You should put the seat in and go for a ride like that. :D

Very nice work you need to start restoring bugs professionally.
Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.

A steering wheel/column would be helpful too, or cutting brakes. :D

Steering? Nonsense, who needs to steer? Everything's just supposed to get out of your way!

Seriously though, nice work. I may have to make my way down to your part of the state sometime to ogle in person. :D

Nice restore Lew. Very nice attention to detail!

Wish I had a hookup for Line-X in my neighborhood...need to get the truckbed done. I'm going to do the rattlecan stuff on my baja...someday...I change and weld things so much that right now it would be a waste of $.

I may have missed it, but was this your driver before...or a 'new' purchase?

Thanks for the compliment. As for the car, I purchased it from a young girl in Atlanta in the late 70's for $1100. I drove the car in SE Georgia until 1983. It was stored away until early 09 when I started the restoration. I plan to start back working on it some when it warms up. :)

No it was not my first job, I did a 64 off body without any help. :) When I was a teenager I worked at my uncles service station. I learned a lot there. I also worked in a Machine Shop when I was 18, and did engine work, boring blocks, head work, etc. Plus I went to night school 3 nights a week for 4 years studying the generation, distribution, and use of energy. I have some body work experience and painting as well. I learned a lot by watching others. I have done many things with my hands, you can to if you just tackle it. Did you ever work on your Bicycle when you were a kid? Easy wasn't it! Don't be overwhelmed working on the VW. It's a simple Engine, and Body. There is plenty of experienced help here on STF. There are a number of things I have had to ask about, and the members gave me the answer. Yep, I have been embarressed at times because of doing dumb things. Just jump in and ask about anything related to your car you need to know. There are some members that's specialize on different areas of your car. Post up your questions in the correct forum and you will get the answer almost immediately. Good Luck with your car. You can do it! :)
