Cracked headlight glass getting ready to install my 3rd set.

Ok what is the trick? I am installing my headlight glass on my beetle I am using early fenders and I have installed 2 sets and they keep on cracking.
The headlight assemblies are aftermarket and seem pretty good. Is it possible that all the spring clips are too much tension on the glass?
I need help.

Jon, you know about the three detents around the outer glass of the units need to line up to the three slots in the bucket and rings, don't you? And that the rings just need to hold the glass globes securely, but dont need to be over-tightened?

I could ride by your house tomorrow, say between 5 and 7pm?

I have a pair of orginal glass assemblies I'd love to sell and ship to you. $75 gets both of them shipped from KC to Texas. Maybe a little more for Florida.

Don't forget the gaskets or you will break the lenz again.

Here is a complete breakdown of the early and late headlights and the parts in order of how they go together.
