Has anyone ever ran one of these on a stock 1600 DP. I tried this carb before along with a number of different jetting configs. Was able to get it to idle but when I cracked the throttle it had a big hesitation. No heat tubes to the manifold.??????? would like to run it if it can be done.

are you talking a single carb??

What vent are you using??

Would be preferable to have heat, but "should" be able to run

I ran dual 36 DLRAs on a 1600DP back in the later 70's. The only other upgrades were 1.4:1 rockers, header, Bosch blue coil and 009.

It ran great.

Jet values for Webers are meaningless compared to Dellortos. Don't try to compare them.

Not interested in a Weber. I have a single 36 DRLA and want to know if the info firebug posted was for a single 36 DRLA on a 1600 DP. It is sitting in my basement and is in great shape. Had it on once before. Got it to idle but went on its face when I cracked the gas.......Thanks anaway Bruce. I do run dual webbers on my other bug. I just have this carb.

Firebugs jetting is for duals, I'm sure.

For a single carb application, you have to jet MUCH richer.

You can keep the 180 airs if that's what you have.

What distributor are you using? That has a major effect on off-idle hesitation.

Try 60-65 idle jets, and 150-160 mains. Adjust accelerator pump too to see where it responds best. The acceleratr jets are removable too, you can get those in different sizes as well.

And you most likely will need to spend some time tweaking the ignition curve to match the carb.

And you definitely need intake manifold heat, if you want decent driveability. Otherwise forget the whole thing and go back to stock carb. It really really works best in an otherwise stock engine, when all the parts are correct and meant to work together, and adjusted properly. You can't improve on the design unless you re-design the whole thing, replacing just one component is a sure way to cause more grief than gain.
