Thanks for the further input.

Since my last post, I have changed my regulator and fuel pump to a smaller capacity unit. But have not been able to test run yet. (I work at sea). My fuel pressure is now 3psi but I might change it down to 2.5 as you recommend.
I am hoping to make some more progress soon

OK, back at it, trying to get things slightly better...

Refresh: 2332, 10:1, web 86C, 1/5/8" sidewinder exhaust, 48IDFs with 40vent.
I have now bought a proper wideband AFR monitor.

by far the best jetting combo I have tried is 57 idles, F11, 155 mains, 180airs
strange thing though with this jetting combo is that under WOT, around 4500rpm, the AFR is 13.2:1. By 5000 it is perfect at 12.5:1 and then it leans out to 13.8:1 by 5700 and then by 6400rpm she is back at 12.5:1

To be honest, the car doesnt feel or sound like it wants to happily rev above 6000.
I do need to spend more time working on the timing. and am also thinking of going up to 42 vents just to see if it frees things up slightly.
I know the exhaust is possibly a bit too small, but I am not going to be changing it anytime soon...

Hey Tony, you are trying to 'fart thew a straw' with the 1 5/8 header  my 2332 would only rev to 6k with that
Then I bolted on a 1 3/4, wow 8000 rpm  8)

Yip mike, I am thinking the same thing. She just doesnt seem happy or able to rev above 6K
Problem is that I need the ground clearance and dont like the turbo muffler under the wheel arch, which is why I got myself a sidewinder... but they dont seem available in 1 3/4. The CSP python is a bit expensive... but maybe I should just fork out the cash...

I don't know the logistics involved getting one to SA, but A1 makes very nice headers, and reasonably priced...
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Mine is the A1 sidewinder 1 5/8"
Lets just say that shipping one to SA isnt cheap

I'll probably look into a larger diameter unit next year. For now, the car is finally drivable and easy to drive. Short of going FI, I doubt it will get easier. I'll still do some more testing, but I am happy with the setup as it is (for now). So its time to enjoy it.
