Scat H beam Rod Installation

So...

Anyone know if the numbers go toward the roof of the case or the bottom? It kind of grinds my gears that the install instructions are mum on the issue.

I did talk to scat about it. They said "bearing tangs down". I asked if it has anything to do with the numbers, Eddie said no, they are only there to match the rod to the cap. The could be on top or bottom.

Ah, did not find that one. I included Scat and not CB as these are Scat rods.

I believe most of today's aftermarket rods are made with no offset - simple enough to check one though.

Actually you don't go by the numbers, if you do it that way,
on one side they go up but on the other side they go down.

what you want to do, is put them on so the bearing tang grooves
go down, closest to the camshaft on both sides.

Resurrecting a old thread I was trying to find out this info for a Porsche 996 carrillo rod install, so I sent an email to Carrillo.

"Hi I have a porsche 996 and your rods from LN engineering I can't find any info on stock or aftermarket rod orientation, I don't believe they have an offset. Flat 6 boxer engine.
I'm actually am building two engines a 3.4 and a 3.6 your rod numbers PR-996>65708H-00 and the second set is PR-99603>65590H-00

Rod orientation do you reccomend bearing tangs down?
Or does it matter? "

With these rods that have no offset, the orientation does not matter.

So with Carrillo rods and no rod offset they say it doesn't matter.

No offset, tell me why it would make a difference...other than to calm OCD tendencies

T1 stock rods are different they have an offset, bumps up.
Type 4 rods no offset, most porsche rods no offset, etc.

Best reason I've heard for tangs down, "so it doesn't freak out the next engine builder".
