Can anyone tell me what this is?
Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.

those are drawings for the towers for the front beam. on buses the beam bolts to the frame through the towers. those appear to have extra holes to interchange between splits and bays?

Early (`68/`69) balljoint II beams have the same bolt pattern as kingpin - the dual bolt pattern allows interchangeability between all years of baywindow; you could bolt a balljoint beam with the early pattern to a splitty, but it's easy to see from the pictures that it would sit quite nose-high.
