Gentlemen,
The very heavy carpet behind the Ghia's back seat and on the engine firewall -- does anyone have a tip for its rip-out, cut-out removal?
Specifically the use of a specific solvent to break down that incredible glue?

Heat or paint stripper and vise-grips.
(I had a Ghia long ago... still miss it)

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

I have found that apathy to be 100% effective on removing the tar'ish-fiber'mat off the inside of the rear firewall. Myself, I would like to find more of that special glue to reattach it.
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.
