Trying to get my Ghia to look like this....

Hello All,

Great site and awesome community here... I have posted my desire to make my Ghia look very similar to the Ghia shown here...
Image

What I am trying to figure out is how do I get those wider wheels/tires both front and rear on the car?
Anyone have a guess to what size they might be?

I am wanting to get a set over fender flares for the rear as well as fab up the smaller units for the front.
But my quest is to get wheels on the car that are wider front and back just like those in that picture. I know
the wheel brand.. but I want to know the size.

Anyone have any ideas they can offer on how I would go about getting my car to sit like that car?
I really don't want to cut my wheel wells to accommodate the wider wheels unless I have to.
I wonder if I could just raise the ride height?

I'm very new to the Ghia and old cars. So I know very little. I have been reading the forums and any info
I can find by searching the web.

Thanks All.

This View show how wide those wheels are.. I love this view and I want to do this...

What do you guys think is going on here? Do you think there has been a ton of mods?

Are these 225 on the rear?

Those minilite style wheels look like 6's and 7's (maybe 205 or 225 at the rear) to me but with more offset than would usually fit under the fender.
the front beam looks stock width and the rear also. there is no cutting needed to the inner fenders front or rear, just the flairs are needed to cover the wheel and tyre.
the front flair is body work and i have no idea what the rear flair has come from, though the factory outer fender would be have to be cut away a LOT to clear. The flair just covers it all up.
have a look at http://www.shoptalkforums.com/viewtopic ... 1&t=140125
efforts to put 225's under the fenders a couple of different ways

Thanks so much for the insight... and the link. I really like that look... I just don't know if I want to cut the car in such a way that I would never be able to return it to stock... Again many thanks... this was very very helpful.

Probably not gonna happen with a ghia. The tolerances are so tight with stock fenders for widening. I'd just have a pro carefully cut the stock ones and hold onto them, then either add fiberglass flares or have a pro graft in some steel ones.

Does anyone know anything more about the Ghia in the OP? I'm really digging it for some reason...

You're digging it because it's totally bad arse.. :) It's fairly inspiring and has influenced my own project as well.

www.clinchedflares.com has the correct-ish looking flares for this look.

Yeah, looks like they have some good stuff.

I used some fiberglass ones I bought off the ebays intended for a Datsun 280Z car. Fairly close on the curvature. I didn't cut anything, just secured them with some tiny self-tapping screws which could easily be plug welded if the flares were ever taken off. Sold the car a few years ago.

I had some of them photoshopped on a Ghia to see how they look.

What do you think?

Looks good, very close to what I'd want, but...the track width about 1" wider and ride height 3/4" higher for clearance.
