I have a set of sealed H4s that I originally had on my 67. They worked wonderfully but are now on my type-3. I like them very much, but it occurs to me that if I needed to replace one somewhere in the middle of the country I might have a problem.
So I'm looking for halogen headlights for the Ghia that takes a modern bulb. They need to look good, be well made and be a direct replacement for the original 7" round headlight. And I'd really like to avoid those with plastic lenses.
Has anybody used the Rampage conversions? They have an interesting look, glass lens, and are SAE and DOT approved.

That style just does not look right on a old VW, here is what I upgraded to on the notch http://www.ebay.com/itm/Alfa-Romeo-Giul ... 53&vxp=mtr
of course I did not pay that much but holy cow what an improvement to visibility. They also have a have a convex lens as opposed to the flat lens like the Hella H4 lens, which I also think looks a lot better.

Thanks Nick. That was one of Glenn's suggestions as well.

Has anyone done a junkyard run, and tried the ones out of a recent Jeep Wrangler?
I had one as a rental, and it appeared to be a standard 7" round format.

In the past I've noticed many Jeeps have sealed H3's from Wagner or the like...not impressive, but they fit...Hummer too - and they offer some pretty cool $tuff for those guys. The Toyota FJ Cruiser also features a 7" headlight.
