California Car Cover Company (www.calcarcover.com) has a car cover pattern for the Type 4 wagon. It's not in their catalog, but if you talk to a customer service rep he will find it in his records. Ordered one for my 412 wagon, fits like a glove.

Also, DashMat (http://www.global-accessories.com/dashmat/index.html) makes a dashboard cover for the 412.

Rear Wheel Bearings and Seals

Post by MGVWfan »

Rear wheel seals:
VW P/N 411 501 315B (NLA)
National/Timken P/N 1969 (NLA)
Chicago Rawhide (CR) P/N 550280

Two per side, four total

SKF P/N 330757C (both inner and outer races)
VW P/N 411 501 283E

Timken tapered bearing and outer race:
LM78349 bearing cone (inner race) and LM78310A cup (outer race)

Two per side, four total

Wholesale Bearings and Drives (WBDS) lists the CR seal and Timken bearing in their online catalog...

http://www.wbds.com/

Update, 11 Jun 05 - WBDS can get the seals with 7 day lead time (factory order), and the outer race is a ONE MONTH leadtime factory order.

Update 16 July 2005 - Bus Depot has the bearings in stock, SKF numbers noted above, order by the VW number noted above. They are SKF boxed, made in Japan by NTN, appear to be decent quality. Bus Depot does not have the seals, though they do have the large O-ring for the outboard seal housing. The CR seals from WBDS are CR boxed, made in Germany by Elring or Goetze, 48mm x 63mm x 11mm, HMSA7.

Be very very careful on places offering headliners, door panels and carpet kits for the 411/412. Unless you have seen them for yourself with your eyeballs...no pictures.
I have been through this for many many many many years. The carpet kits, headliners, dorr panels andseat cover kits.....are totally unique, complex and remotely similar to nothing in any other vehicle.

For years I have found places that do large volume mail sales and list interior parts for the 411/412. More often than not...when you order...they will say out of stock. When they do say "in stock"...or make to fit....you find that they are usually for the type 3.....and that a great many simple auto parts houses....assume these two cars are related to each other and in the same family. Type 3 headliners and carpet will do nothing for you.

I went the same route on ball-joints for ages. Having someone recite the correct part # to you over the phone....rarelyworks. They are just repeating what their catalog says. Make sure you see and measure these parts before forking it over. Ray

I think I found the website for the Michigan Parts Place
www.partsplaceinc.com
Kind of high on their prices but seem to be knowledgeable.
