Have you seen these ign. Wires??

Post by vwbill »

Hey have you guys seen these wires? Ebayer # 280433434038 . They are bucks but what is the deal with the spark enhancement?? Think it would help mpg or that start up rich mix? Bill,jr.

Yes, those are Nology wires and they work very well especially on high comprssion lean burn engines. they are simply a very high voltage dosage in a shorter millisecond duration. They create a very large hot spark. In order to get very best results you must follow their coil booster and triggering recommendations. Each wire has its own ground braid. The ground must be superb. Also, the huge sparks shown in their demo are only achievable with non-resistor silver plugs like silverstones.
They still work very well. The only drawbacck I have seen is that they run very hot on the coils. Typically you will get a year or two out of them...maybe 20-30k miles but they do very well> They are a capacitive dischargetype system. Ray

So, you need to ground each wire to the block or chassis. Do you need to upgrade to a high output coil so you don't burn out the blue boscher? So would it help gas mileage or be another tuning issue with being a lean mixture knock issue? Sounds almost like you would lose mileage from needed to make the mixture richer to cool the extra heat. Does that mean a cooler spark plug range too? Thx, Bill.jr

The spark plug range is normal. The spark arc happens with a duration that is about 1/10 the normal spark duration in length. They can put out 100-300 Kv no problem. because the spark duration is shorter with current 10 times higher....you get a huge hot spark but it does not last so long that it heats up the plug excessively causing errosion. Very nice for high compression hard to ignite engines.

you can use most coils but you have to pay attention to the manufacturers coil resistance specs.

The ground braids are part of each coil pack. They must be carefully grounded as current is pulled through that ground. So...you might need to run an extra ground braid to teh block in the vicentity of the coil grounds. If the ground to a coil is poor....teh braid gets very hot as the unit trys to pull power through it.

You can get a more complete burn with tehse if your fuel mixture is tuned out right. The engine will not require any more collong by fuel. You will need slight tweeks to fuel mixture to otpimize with these wires. I have installed these on other peoples cars. They work very well and must be installed very cleanly.
Like any high performance product..they wear a bit faster than stock wires. Ray
