OK I need to replace the floorboard quarter behide the drivers seat. I had seen a company that sold these fiberglass floorboards and I wanted to know if anyone has tryed it? The floor under the drivers seat is OK.

I was reading at http://vwinnovations.com/ that they say to use self tapping screws to attach the pans. I though this might be for me because of my very limited knowage of welding. The car is not a daily driver but a weekend fun car.

floor pans hu..
thinks***
driving with my friends, and all of a sudden, the passenger seat goes under with passenger.
Thump*
lol
i know your not doing anything remotely like this, but get a friend that has some welding tools and some knowledge and have him do it.
Possibly your local college might have an auto shop, they might do it for real cheap and use it as experience, but remember you always get what you pay, sometimes you get an excellent job for cheap, but you can also get a crappy one. Gulmer Pile might be your service tech...

I did it. I would NOT recommend it. A HUGE PITA to install, your arms will itch for weeks, and your throat will hurt(even with gloves, long sleeved shirt, and filter mask). Not only that, when you get in the car, the floor FLEXES downward. Not a pleasant sensation. I had cross braces welded in, so I don't know what they do structural rigidity wise, but I doubt it's good. Spend the extra dough and get metal ones and have them welded in. I promise you won't think back and say "Boy, I wish I had put in 'glass pans." If you do the glass ones, I promise you'll think back and say "Boy, I wish I had welded in metal pans." JMHO.
