More CV questions

So I've read the Bentley manual, and its shed some light on the subject...however, I'm still somewhat confused. First of all, I don't know how to get the cage off. Do I press the driveshaft (and as a result the hub) first? And can somebody explain to me the idea of pressing out the driveshaft. At this point in time, I have my driveshaft removed with the CV's (balls removed from the CV's) still on. I understand I need to remove the circlip (I'm gonna buy some circlip pliers), then is it time to use a press? I'm sorry, I am a newbie...thats why I'm posting in this particular forum.
