Marty's the man! I'm building a 1911 T4 for my 914 with an "H" grind cam from European (.475" dur .286 - .248 at .050") on 114 LC's. I won't have this motor running right away, but the idea is to turbo it also :D

Thanks for the input, These cams mentioned, have like 10degrees more lobe seperation than the stock, that's a lot..

A decision was made and I got a good deal on a Web #86.. sit's next to #73 in the line up.. on the dangerous side? We'll soon see :D

What is the lobe centre of an #86?

Thanks T. Do you have the LC of the #73? How much different is it?

I guess I need lifters... What are my options? Other than Web and compo$ite? Stateside offer Jonson's, I recall Jake saying these are NLA. They do not have NOS prices, that concerns me. No reply to my emails..

Hi, if its helpful i bought some of the johnsons from Stateside Tuning. Heres a pic:

Image

Correct me if im wrong, one way to identify the johnsons is to see if
there's the circlip inside or not. If there isnt then its likely to be a
johnson.

I have not run those lifters yet so cant comment on their longevity.

BTW mattkab i beleive you just bought the camshaft off me on ebay(i
thought id seen your username somewhere) - I just posted it today so
should be with you in a few days.

I used the web #73 and lifters from aircooled.net (resurfaced) works great!

I don't know if you have read my thread but the #73 is a real torquemonster with a turbo 8)

Thanks Ben, how were those lifters packaged? In a 'Johnson' box?

What kind of T4 are you building?

What thread is that?

Jonas, you'll like my new 'modular' intake, variable runner length/variable plenum using mostly stock parts/Samco/sheet/tube. Quite similar to yours but smaller/black/unfinished...

No box unfortunately they arrived wrapped up in a paper towel. I wonder if he bought a large batch of them before the company went under. Stateside is a pretty stand up place so im pretty sure they are what hw says they are.

Im building a 2056, ported porsche 914 2ltr heads, RAT cam(hence the sale of the webcam 86), no turbo for me but i will be using Megasquirt fuel injection.

Good luck with the project

I'll be on to Jim pronto then.

I'm also building a 2056, already have most parts. This 1.8 turbo thing is just happening because I have enough left-over, 'keeper' parts. I have to remind myself!

I fancied the #86 a while back, for my high mileage engine. But what do I know?

That stock cam/lifter set is begging for a chance in the turbo afterbirth project  let's see what my own testing teaches me.

Air slicing common plenum.. Yes? I also have some sick plans for a NA 2056, too much planning is going into that, this 1.8 is for fun, to go quicker than 21seconds@60mph and hold it's own (hold together) on the motorway- this summer. Probably your fault Jonas :P I will take pics later.

Yes, they look like Johnsons to me.

You can NOT say they are Johnsons, just because there is no circlip.
I have seen TRW, Eatons and Norris' that don't have circlips.

You have to check the chamfer of the edges and other *identifying*
features....
