\"110 Cam\" For Type IV

Post by juiceman »

I've been looking at what cam I want for my Type IV conversion project. What I'm looking for is the equivalent to the "110 Cam"(284x.430) that I've had success using when I build Type I engines. There doesn't seem to be a middle of the road cam in Web-Cam or Scat's list for Type IV. What they call a performance street cam seems really mild and low end to me (270 duration) and I assume thats because a street application generally means in a bus. I can't find a 284 duration cam without having to accept a .500 lift which as far as I know is wild enough to need dual springs. Thoughts anyone?

FWIW, we carry hundreds of grinds not listed in our catalog (we just have them made). I'll be happy to help you out if you have your budget, intentions, and all engine specifics set.

Thanks for the info Jake. I don't know what I will have specwise for sure. Probably I will be running a 2055cc with 7.6 CR, 44 IDF's and 1.8 heads with 39 x 34 valves. It will go into a '69 Baja with IRS tranny. I'm thinking I will go with the 290 x .435 or 280/300 x .500 split duration cam.

Juiceman,
Jake Raby gave you the best advice. ALWAYS
go DIRECT to the guy that MAKES what you want. You don't need anyone in between-especially if you have any problem down the road.
You want a cam, you go to a cam grinder.
WEBCAM is a great outfit. They know camshafts
and focus directly on that product only.
