building 2640 type 4 ,, had pauter cam and 1.48 needle bearing aluminum roller rockers ,,, during first 500 miles had valve train failure ,,, valve went perfectly through top of piston ,,, now i have $3000 paperweight !!!!

failure caused by valve retainer ,,, heads were 1.7 opened up valves etc . combustion chamber looked like surface of the moon ! sent to rimco where they did the most incredible save ever !!!

now i threw out pauter rockers and want to go with 1.3 914 with 911 adjusting screws,,, cam will work fine with reduced rockers according to pauter ,,problem is

WHERE THE HELL CAN YOU BUY THE ROCKER ASSEMBLY NEW ????

pauter doesnt make them , i just want to buy the assembly all ready to go in !!!
dont want to go through the junk pile and machine and buy parts from ten people and pay more for shipping than assemblys worth

Sorry to hear the issues with your engine , always make sure the collets/keepers do not fit flush , there should be a slight gap between the 2 so they clamp fully to the valve .
There is nothing made new in rocker arms for type 4's , I'd get in touch with EMW or FAT and ask them to make up a complete set for you , that way you're only dealing with one company . what happened to your Pauter rockers to make you throw them in the bin ? I'd may be interested if you want to part with them and dig them out of the rubbish .

Why do you need "new" rockers? The stock type 4 1.3 ratio rockers....even used... are rock solid. You would be hard pressed to break it. There is absolutely "0" difference whatsoever between VW and Porsche 914 rockers....same EXACT parts.

The REAL Porsche 911 swivel feet....from the type 4 store, Pelican or Auto Atlanta....are spot on. You can buy brand new superb quality rocker shafts from the type 4 store. I have a set.....just excellent.

Buy a solid spacer kit from the type 4 store or Aircooled.net. The stock rockers actually wear very little unless they were abused by lack of oil changes. Its the rocker shafts that wear.

Just source a set of good used 1.7L rockers....grind or mill the underside 0.065"....buy a rocker shaft kit, a new stud kit, a 911 adjuster set and a solid spacer kit from the type 4 store....and it will be far, far, far....better than stock.

Avoid the Porsche 914 BS hype....unless you are dealing with 2.0 heads or 2.0 pistons. Outside of that...every last part is VW. Ray

all my 6 heads are 2.0 except the 1.7 on the 2640 ,,, i needed rocker
assemblies for three engines ,didnt have used parts ,you are correct , i had already purchased solid rocker spacers from type 4 store before this post but in the big picture what george at emw charged me for complete rocker assemblies , all new except used rockers with 911 adjusters , was cheaper and easier !!!!! life is good , thanks for your help ray!
