t4 oil pumps

just gathering peoples thoughts for a new (as factory spec) cnc t4 oil pump. would it be worth it having a run made?

I think thats a great idea considering the challenges of setting up the alternatives to suit! Orratech? do a CNC pump but is very pricey, if you can keep the costs reasonable it shouldn't be a problem selling them.
Do you intend to manufacture in Australia?

Thats an interesting idea , just get the alloy body made like a type 1 but with the type 4 OD and spacing, so new shadeck gears fit ,hopefully in 26mm and 30mm. Depending on cost I'd buy one just to have on the shelf .

Mostly, make the pump OD correct, not loose like the Shadeck.

thank guy's, i have drawn up the pump housing already, i have to see a machinist i know in melbourne to produce the shafts and gears. these would be made in melbourne by the same machinist who is looking at the gears. it would be as OEM spec regarding the gear sizes and the other specs/tolerances.

i don't know what the total cost would be but if this does go ahead anything posted within aus would probably be free

I’d be very interested in a Type4 dry sump pump, at a reasonable price.

I’ve looked at the CB performance, and I don’t think the scavenge side is big enough.

The $1500 Moroso ones are way overkill, not building a NASCAR engine here.

I might end up going with his, or if I can talk our machine shop supervisor into letting me use the CNC, I might end up making my own.

i measured the gears in my pump and they measure just over 30mm well 33.14. it's not possible to to measure straight across as the teeth are not in line. so i measured the center bore, then measured from the top off a tooth to the inside edge of the center bore, the added that twice as it's a rotating mass.

any comments?

I'm thinking that you would tool up to make a run of pump bodies, and people could use gears from another pump..

1. There's tons of old gears around, and they don't usually wear out, it's the bodies that wear.
2. Make them for a type 1; Much larger market.
3. Those of us who want to run the pump in a type 4 can do the mods needed.

It's not the most difficult part ever made,
But there are going to be a few ops needed..

originally that is what i am doing, i have designed a new style internal gears to run in those pump bodies, and my machinist is talking with an engineer at his works regarding those.

the drawing is finalized and he is doing a quote for me as we speak. i would imagine since it's thursday evening it will be after the easter break
