Hi guys.
I'm using standard aluminium push rods on my motor, I have a set of steel rods out of a later engine. question is, are a set of steel rods lighter than the aluminum rods, and are they stronger.
Motor has dual springs.
Just wanna check before I start removing engine parts

Re: pushrods
Steel generally is heavier than aluminum, but generally stronger assuming they are they same size and shape.

Re: pushrods
Check the length. The only factory steel PRs were crom mid to late bus.....for hydraulic lifters. They are shorter and will not work with solid lifters. Ray

Re: pushrods
Don't bother even trying to use those things.
1. They are too short for anything other than the hyd. lifters that they were used with.
2. They weigh a ton.
FWIW, I NEVER use type4 push rods in type4s. I always use steel or chromoly type1 push rods in my type4 builds.

Re: pushrods
Ok thanks for the info guys.
So. Would you say the standard type 4 pushrods are not a good rod to use on a hypo motor.
Which pushrod would be an up grade.
I'm looking for stronger/lighter.
Cheers G

I have had a half-dozen sets of these at least and love them...
