Hey guys,
Im building a 2800 n/a type 4 for track/street use. Going to dry sump it and got a good deal on a two stage autocraft pump . It is not curently drilled to use the stock scavenge from the case so I need to either do this or scavenge from some other location. The engine has not started assmebly yet so now is the time to drill and tap or make any modifications. What are thoughts on where to scavenge the oil. Also where is the best location to run the oil back into the case from the external tank?I will be using a block off plate for the stock filter. I am running the dtm kit which relocates the stock cooler via hoses to the stock type 1 location which I beleive I need to keep to make use of the shroud cooling. I will run an external cooler as well. Help me get this all sorted out.
Thanks
Darren

Re: Autocraft dry sump scavenge
Hi Darren , if you do a search on the CB dry sump there is quite a lot of ideas on plumbing of dry sumps on type 4 s ,I haven't played with a dry sump but if I was I'd drill the pump and use the standard pick up , I'd also add scavenge points from both rocker covers .
If you can get the scavenged oil from the pump through the standard oil gallery to the filter, then use a sandwich plate , the outlet can go to your external cooler then to the tank . Then run the pressure side of the pump back into the inlet of the sandwich plate . That away you use the standard filter location and the oil pressure relief valve. Don't forget to plug the little relief valve in the filter housing.
I'm building something similar and am going to try a windage tray and rocker cover drains to help move the oil back to the sump quickly . also keep the oil away from the exhaust stubs.
cheers Derek
