sweet! I'm gonna be watching this.
question though. how much machine work do hose 911 cyls need to fit the type 4. I don't think I have actually seen anybody use them. I always though it could be a good idea, I see partial set selling cheep all the time.

Search for Wallys build... His 2.2L (100x66) with 911 jugs was making north of 450HP last I checked.
(I think it was sold to finance even more interesting things)
All else being equal I'd rather clearance machine aluminum vs iron any day.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Pile I thought wally used a set of Nikkies for that build, the ones from his blown up 2.7. I thought he sold the 100mm 911 cyls. maybe I'm wrong.

He used the same 100mm jugs, just not as much, the bottoms took some damage from the dying rod but 66 stroke worked out OK.

I believe you are partially correct, I believe it was 100mm 911 Turbo pistons only he had and sold, the cyls he used in his 2.7 that were damaged when his rod let go were actually Type lV 103mm mahle/(Okrasa) alu-nikasil cylinders, (as Nickies are a Trademark of LN Engineering) that he had repaired by shorting them to remove the damaged section of the cyl's for the 2.2 Turbo motor.Electroman wrote:Pile I thought wally used a set of Nikkies for that build, the ones from his blown up 2.7. Depending on the stroke and the head sealing issues, 911 cyl's could work as long as their the smaller bores, I would think.

Oettinger - Okrasa Is the same company. It's the year 1951: and it's the year the name OKRASA is introduced: Oettinger Automotive Specialty Institute.Bruce.m wrote:Oettinger, I thought
And the Cyl's were made by Mahle, and the Crankshafts were made by ALFING Kessler
