I have two sets I'd like the valves and seats addressed on.
In the US, I personally would use:
Adrian Audirac at Headflow masters, he advertises in Hot VWs
European Motor Works has been "doing" T4s as long as there have been T4s.
RIMCO (I have
heard RIMCO does at least part of the EMW headwork, curious how much)
I would have first suggested Len Hoffman, but last I heard he had sworn off reworking used heads as policy due to issues with the 30+ year old castings. AFAIK Jake Raby keeps him plenty busy.
Regardless of where you go, study first---know the potential issues, so you know the right questions, and have some reasonable idea if you are getting smoke blown up your...
T4 heads are not T1 heads, the shops that have suddenly "seen the light" have something to prove before they are seen as viable rebuilders IMHO, and only time and user feedback can provide that.
The Bugpatch listing those used bus heads as 2.0 914 heads pretty much scratches them off MY list permanently, as it demonstrates they are idiots at
best.
You can make replica 914 2.0 heads with some welding (Len does this), but as most Bus heads start off w/junk for castings, I personally wouldn't use old Bus heads as a foundation.
