Well done...I think i have said that before.
Cheers mate! I still owe you something I think. Pls lemme know
I was especially proud of the 210 hp at my own 4000 rpm mark. Even when I had the ball-bearing 30R Garrett turbo on it with the very small turbine housing (both things said to give better spool), it didn't make the boost and power it makes now down low.

Great news Wally!
It probably has something to do with the match of cam with everything else.

Just removed the turbo from the engine, put some air filters and a muffler on and dyno'd it again on Euro95 fuel (=equivallent to Cali 91):
170 hp (5600-7000 rpm) and 218Nm (4500 rpm) !
For a mere 2,2 ltr on 1:8.3 CR I was pleasently surprised!

Interesting and I do like all your testing of stuff, plus sharing it.

Tnx Fredrik!
On that note of sharing:
Another interesting thing I tested while being there was doing a run with or without fan belt and with or without air filters.
The 911-style fan used half the hp a type 1 fan consumed in hp at the same rpm at the same dyno. Unfortunately we could only compare up to 5500 rpm without fan belt as the engine had problems supplying power to the ecu and fuel pumps at higher rpm's and actually made less hp without the fan doing more rpm's

(or maybe it pinged a little with the low grade pump gas without cooling and knock sensor made it retard, I dunno exactly what happend).
Or for Don: your blond actually turned out smarter then you thought she was... Now, what does that say about you? hehe!

I am married to a blond. She is smarter than me. Now that does not say too much if I do not tell you that I am about average smart.
Now I have two very blonde daughters and they mutated from their parents.
That is no joke...........they have a nice combination of looks and then the smartness.
Holy moly I do not know how it came to be.
I know I dropped the older girl (the one that is doing very well in University) when she was a year old. Not anything I am proud off but as we openly joke her and me, maybe that is why. Or maybe she would have been sharper if I would not have caused this very traumatic experience?
Very sorry for the total OT but I just had to.
Now again, I am really hoping my new engine with the horsiontal Lee Arnold 911 fan does not suck too much power.
It will be carburated so back to back tests will be done.
I will share.

LOL! Maybe we have to drop someone from here on the head as well you're suggesting?
BTW this is what it looked like without turbo:
Impression of the sound/noise it now makes:

See, it's not true about once you go Turbo you never go back...
So Wally, what was the reason you pulled the Turbo ?

There you have it!
I'm selling/sold the engine and wanted to know what it would do N/A
I think I took it as far as I possibly could, collected a huge amount of data, learnt heaps and now wanted to concentrate on other projects that cost money also, like the 30hp LandSpeed engine/bug

Thanks, I was impressed as well and all that on 91 pump gas (thats 95 euro octane compared) and very low CR.
I used 48mm ITB's

Cool Wally, I've been following your progress in the shadows, I like what I see, how did it feel to drive the N/A engine? gutless compared to the turbo?!

Hey Jonas,
So very nice to hear from you again!
Surprisingly, it wasn't gutless at all
Certainly not compared to the 1200 engine before that one came on boost

Yes, it certainly been a while since last, haven't had much to contribute lately!
Did the pressure sensor come in to use?
Everything is relative (except for the light) I guess

So what is replacing the type4turbo?
Merry christmas Wally (and all others too!)
