Cam choice for my 2.7l T4 engine

Post by VW1300-NORWAY »

What cam do you recommend for my 2.7l T4 engine (Race/street engine) ? (I am looking for something like a Web 86C cam).

Specs :

78,4x105mm
Heavily ported heads with 48x40mm valves.
Comp. = 11:1 (99 octane gas in Norway)
48 Dellorto carburators

Thanks,
Geir

Jake's 9650 +5 is a good large displacement cam.

2733 (82x103)
48 idf / 009
schleicher 324 (9,7mm lift at the cam) w 1,48 pauter
max torque at around 4000
around 215 ft/lbs, 205 hp
but you don`t need that much lift, stock rockers are fine.
this was a nice street / race combination.

All details here including a link to my very extensively prepared cam and valve train presentation..

I only sell cams with "kits" of compatible parts.

I do have a 78x105 engine myself. Ended up with a cam from Pauter, on the third combo.
One and two went flat, so I bought the ceramic lifters and the Pauter cam.

Jake Raby som jeg linket til over her selger kun kammer til kmpl. motorkit. Synd.

The cam that Wally used in his 2.7 could be a good candidate.

Wally, where did you get that came from? I'm will be probably looking for a new cam soon and my idea was to use something similar (split duration) but wit less duration overall.

It was a custom split lift/duration cam from some 10-15 years old I bought from somebody's old stock. Sorry. Besides, its in 3 pieces now...

Hi, and thanks for your replies!

I've been recommended the Pauter O3N8 cam.

What kind of lifters do I use for this one?
